UTME 2024: JAMB Reveals Price for Change of Names
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) recently declared that candidates seeking to modify their names post-registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) would incur a fee of N2,500.
This announcement came in response to an inquiry from a candidate on Sunday, April 7, as revealed through a tweet by the examination board.
JAMB advised candidates to thoroughly consider their decisions before requesting a name alteration, emphasizing that such changes could only be made once.
How much is JAMB’s change of name?
In a recent interaction on Twitter, a candidate known as Kamdili raised a query regarding the cost of a name change.
Specifically, they inquired, “Please, how much does it cost for a change of name? The option is no longer on your portal, and I don’t want to have to go to your office twice.”
JAMB responded to Kamdili’s inquiry via a tweet, stating that the cost for a name change is #2,500.00. However, they also cautioned Kamdili to carefully consider their decision before proceeding, as JAMB does not endorse name corrections after registration.
#2,500.00 only, however, you're advised to weigh your options before applying as JAMB does not approve name correction after registration. https://t.co/3rNwOz9kVi

JAMB sends message to candidates on verification
JAMB, earlier, made public the release of a bulletin tailored for 2024 Direct Entry (DE) candidates, addressing their queries and concerns.
The bulletin, as disclosed by JAMB, offers comprehensive insights into the 2024 DE examination, catering to the needs of all prospective candidates.
Additionally, JAMB extended the deadline for the 2024 DE registration to April 25 from the initial March 28 cutoff.
JAMB explains how to correct discrepancies in results
JAMB recently emphasized the importance for UTME and DE candidates to rectify any disparities in their O’level results before registering for its exams.
The examination board advised affected candidates to address these issues either through the NIMC portal or by visiting WAEC. This guidance was provided in response to inquiries from candidates regarding the examination process on social media platforms.
