UNN Cut-Off Mark 2024/2025 For All Courses

Established by the Federal government in 1955, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) holds a prestigious position among higher education institutions in Nigeria.

Located in Nsukka, Enugu State, it is renowned for its academic excellence and research achievements across various disciplines. As the anticipation builds for the upcoming admissions cycle, here is a comprehensive guide to UNN’s cut-off marks for the next academic session.

UNN has recently announced its JAMB cut-off mark and departmental cut-off marks for all courses for the 2024/2025 academic session. It is imperative for prospective students who have selected UNN as their first-choice institution to familiarize themselves with the approved admission thresholds for the current year.

What is the UNN Cut Off Mark?

The University of Nigeria, UNN, has designated a cut-off threshold of 160 and above for the 2024/2025 academic session.

This implies that prospective students must achieve a combined score of 160 or more in both the UTME and Post UTME (if applicable) to qualify for admission into their desired courses.

University cut-off scores serve as the minimum requirements for admission to academic programs.

They set a foundational benchmark, indicating academic proficiency and the level of competition. These marks facilitate the admissions process, promoting fairness and clarity while upholding educational standards.

They fulfill various functions:

1. Initial screening: Establishing cut-off marks aids institutions in swiftly identifying eligible candidates, streamlining the selection process.

2. Equitable admission: They establish a system based on merit, ensuring all candidates have an equal chance to join courses they are eligible for, promoting fairness and transparency.

3. Maintaining standards: Cut-off marks uphold academic excellence by guaranteeing that admitted students possess a minimum level of proficiency, thus safeguarding the institution’s prestige.

4. Gauging demand: Higher cut-off marks reflect the popularity and perceived value of specific programs, indicating the level of demand.

5. Academic incentive: Cut-off marks inspire students to meet or exceed academic benchmarks for admission into their preferred programs, fostering a sense of achievement.

How To Calculate UNN UTME & Post UTME Aggregate Score

Many students find it challenging to determine their overall score and cut-off thresholds, which can vary across educational institutions. To simplify this process, we’ve compiled tips on computing the aggregate score for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

To accurately calculate your aggregate score, note that the JAMB Examination carries 400 marks, while the Post UTME contributes 100 marks.

Here’s a breakdown:

– Divide your JAMB score by 8.

– Divide your Post UTME score by 2.

– Add the results together.

For example, let’s consider Tina, who scored 240 in her JAMB and 80 in her Post UTME. Her Aggregate score can be calculated as follows:

240/8 = 30

80/2 = 40

40 + 30 = 70

So, Tina’s aggregate score is 70.

Additionally, the consideration of O’level (WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB) involves the calculation of the five core subjects relevant to the chosen course at the University:

– A1 – 6 points

– B2 – 5 points

– B3 – 4 points

– C4 – 3 points

– C5 – 2 points

– C6 – 1 point

The maximum achievable points are 30, which are then prorated to 20 by multiplying by 2/3.
