The University of Ilesa (UNILESA) is highly regarded as a top university in Osun State. It was founded in 2022 following the elevation of the Osun State College of Education to university status. 

In November 2022, the National Universities Commission (NUC) officially acknowledged the institution, making it the 60th state-owned university and the 220th university in Nigeria.

University of Ilesa cut-off mark for all courses

The University of Ilesa has not yet announced the cut-off mark for the 2024/2025 academic year. For the 2023/2024 admission period, the minimum acceptable cut-off mark was 160, with each program having its own specific departmental cut-off point.

The University of Ilesa courses

The University of Ilesa is situated in Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria, and aims to deliver excellent education to students both locally and from further afield. It offers top-notch programs across nine faculties and 32 departments. Below is a list of courses and departments available at the university:

Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts consists of four departments, which include:

  • Linguistics
  • Music
  • English Language
  • History and International Studies

Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law at the University of Ilesa consists of a single department, the Department of Law, which offers two programs. The courses available in this department include:

  • LL. B. Private and Commercial Law
  • LL.B. Public and International Law

Faculties of Medical Sciences

The University of Ilesa includes three faculties in the medical sciences: Faculty of Science, Basic Medical Science, and Medical Laboratory Science.

These faculties house departments such as Microbiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Histopathology and Forensic Medicine, Chemical Pathology and Immunology, and Haematology and Blood Transfusion. The medical science programs offered include:

Faculty of Computing

Faculty of Social and Management Sciences

The Faculty of Social and Management Sciences consists of six departments: Accounting, Economics, Tourism and Hospitality, Political Science, Business Administration, and Transport Planning and Logistic Studies. Some courses offered within this faculty include:

Faculty of Nursing

The Faculty of Nursing provides students with a comprehensive approach to public healthcare. It consists of four departments: Community or Public Health, Maternal and Child Health, Medical Surgical, and Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing. Students can enroll in programs such as:

  • BSc Public Health
  • BNSc. Nursing Science

What are the requirements for the University of Ilesa?

The University of Ilesa has strict admission requirements that help guide new students through the application process. These requirements include:

– Candidates must change their preferred university to the University of Ilesa, Osun State, as their first choice on the JAMB portal.

– Applicants need to pay a N2,000 screening fee into the university’s dedicated account.

– The university’s minimum cut-off mark is 160, but each course has its specific minimum cut-off mark based on the JAMB subject combination.

– Candidates must have credit passes in at least five relevant subjects in SSCE, NECO, or NABTEB, with no more than two sittings.

– Applicants must be at least 16 years old to qualify for admission.

University of Ilesa recruitment process

The University of Ilesa offers a simple application process for fresher, direct entry, and pre-degree admissions. The application process, whether for pre-degree or fresher and direct entry applicants, involves the following steps:

To apply for fresher, direct entry, and pre-degree admission at the University of Ilesa, follow these steps:

1. Visit the official university website and select “Start Registration” to initiate the payment process.

2. Enter your personal information in the form that appears.

3. Complete the payment on the Remita pop-up.

4. Note and save the application ID generated on the “Payment Successful” page.

5. Proceed to the application form by clicking “Proceed to Application Form” on the “Payment Successful” page.

6. Your data will be pre-filled if it exists in the database.

7. Complete any missing data in the application form.

8. Upload a passport photograph sized 200×200 pixels, with a maximum size of 200 Kbs.

9. Fill in the biodata form and click “Next Page” to continue. You can also click “Save” to proceed after payment.

10. Complete the qualification form and review your application.

11. Print the “Preview” page to finalize the application process.

Pre-degree candidates must pay an admission fee of N17,500, while fresher and direct entry candidates must pay N4,000. The application process concludes on 31st March 2024.

How to check your admission status

To check your admission status at the University of Ilesa, follow these steps:

1. Visit the University of Ilesa portal results checker.

2. Enter your JAMB login details, such as your username and password.

3. Once logged in, scroll down and select “Check Admission Status”.

4. For a detailed admission update, you can also click on “Access my CAPS” to view your admission results in depth.

Is the University of Ilesa a federal university?

The University of Ilesa became the 60th state-owned university when the National Universities Commission recognized it in 2022. It is, therefore, owned by the State Government of Osun.

Does the University of Ilesa offer nursing?

The University of Ilesa provides nursing courses within the Faculty of Nursing, which is divided into four departments. Some of the nursing programs offered are B.NSc. Nursing Science and B.Sc. Public Health.
