LASU 28th Convocation Ceremony Programme of Events 2025.
The Lagos State University (LASU) has unveiled the detailed schedule for its 28th Convocation Ceremony, set to honor the accomplishments of graduands from the 2023/2024 academic session. The events will take place over a week-long period, featuring various religious, cultural, and academic activities.
Pre-Convocation Activities
Day 1: Press Conference and Sports Competition
- Date: Thursday, 3 April 2025
- Press Conference Venue: Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Ojo
Time: 10:00 a.m. - Sports Competition Venue: LASU Sports Centre, Main Campus, Ojo
Time: 12:00 noon
The press conference will officially launch the convocation week, followed by a spirited sports competition showcasing the talents of the university community.
Religious Observances
Day 2: Jumat Service

- Venue: University Mosque, Main Campus, Ojo
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Day 3: Thanksgiving Service
- Date: Sunday, 6 April 2025
- Venue: University Chapel, Main Campus, Ojo
Time: 10:00 a.m.
These services are designed to offer prayers and thanksgiving for the successful completion of the academic session and the graduands’ achievements.
Cultural and Academic Highlights
Day 4: Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival
- Date: Monday, 7 April 2025
- Venue: Badagry Gate Entrance, Main Campus, Ojo
Time: 9:00 a.m.
The Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival, a vibrant tradition, will celebrate LASU’s cultural diversity and heritage. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized its significance as a unifying event that showcases the institution’s rich traditions.
Day 5: Convocation Lecture
- Date: Tuesday, 8 April 2025
- Venue: Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo
Time: 11:00 a.m.
The lecture will feature a distinguished speaker addressing contemporary issues in education and societal development. “The convocation lecture always inspires meaningful discourse,” remarked a senior university official.
Award Ceremonies
Day 6: Award of Diplomas and Degrees
- Date: Wednesday, 9 April 2025
- Venue: Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Day 7: Award of Doctorate and Honorary Degrees
- Date: Thursday, 10 April 2025
- Venue: Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo

The week will culminate in the formal conferral of diplomas, degrees, and honorary doctorates. The Vice-Chancellor expressed pride in the graduands and described the ceremonies as “a celebration of excellence and perseverance.”
Guidelines for Graduands
- Convocation Package Payment: Graduands must visit the LASU Payment Portal to complete the payment process.
- Return of Academic Gowns:
- Deadline: Friday, 11 April 2025
- Daily Fine for Late Return: ₦500
- Replacement Fee for Lost or Damaged Gowns: ₦30,000
- Certificate Collection: Certificates will be issued post-ceremony upon the return of gowns.
Ceremony Instructions
- Graduands must join the procession by 9:00 a.m. to gain entry to the auditorium.
- Faculty Officers will assist graduands in properly wearing their hoods and caps.
- Etiquette:
- Female graduands should curtsy.
- Male graduands are expected to bow without removing their caps.

Additional Notes
- Unauthorized movement and photography during the ceremony are strictly prohibited.
- Guests and graduands seated under the canopy outside the auditorium should stand when the academic procession enters and exits.
- Graduands are advised to complete clearance processes at their respective faculties to collect certificates.
