KW-IRS Launches 2024 Annual Tax Quiz Competition to Boost Tax Awareness Among Youth

On the start of the 2024 Annual Tax Quiz Competition, which is now in its ninth year, the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) published an announcement.

Between Monday, April 22 and Friday, May 17, schools that are interested in participating may submit their applications using the portals that have been established, according to the announcement that was disseminated through the official social media accounts of the service.

By encouraging young people to comply with tax rules and increasing their understanding of taxes, the competition hopes to accomplish both of these goals.

In order to put up the event, the service collaborates with the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to arrange it.

Beginning on Monday, June 24th, and continuing through Friday, June 28th, the initial rounds of the tournament will be held virtually at each and every school that is registered in the state.

Since the commencement of the administration of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, there has been an increase in the number of people participating throughout the competition.

The number of schools that participated increased from 142 in 2021 to 219 in 2022 and then to 231 in 2023 before reaching its highest point in 2023.

Among the prizes are a grand reward of N2.5 million for the school that comes in first place, N1.5 million for the school that comes in second place, and N1 million for the school that comes in third place.

Teachers who coordinate the activities of the successful schools will be awarded monetary prizes, and students who contribute to the success of their schools will be awarded monetary awards to fund their studies after informing the agency of their admission into higher education institutions or institutes of higher learning.

It is predicted that the competition in 2024 will be very tough as a result of the increased awareness of the advantages that will accrue to both the winning schools and the students that participate.

In the following days, KW-IRS intends to create media channels in order to give information that is pertinent to the competition and to describe the criteria that will be used.
