Jamb Subject Combination For Pharmacology 2024/2025 & UTME Requirements

To apply for enrollment in the Pharmacy program offered by the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences in Nigeria, you need to fulfill the following conditions:

 Combination For Pharmacology For candidates applying through UTME:

Required UTME subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Mathematics.

Combination For Pharmacology For candidates applying through O’level 

 You must have credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, achieved within a maximum of two examination sittings.

For Direct Entry Candidates:

UTME subject requirements include Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Mathematics. 

For O’level qualifications, candidates need to have obtained credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, within two sittings.

 English Language is compulsory for all courses in the UTME. 

Specifically for Pharmacy under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences in the listed institutions, the required subjects are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To pursue a Pharmacy degree at Nigerian universities, you must have achieved five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

(i) At UNIBADAN, these O-level credit passes must be obtained in one sitting. (ii) UNILAG also mandates Physics, Chemistry, and Biology alongside English Language and Mathematics, mirroring requirements for Medicine.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To gain admission directly into Pharmacy programs, you generally require three ‘A’ Level qualifications in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology, and Physics or Mathematics, in addition to fulfilling UTME prerequisites.

Below are specific criteria for admission at different universities:

UniversitySpecial Considerations
BENIN– Accepts Botany instead of Biology for ‘A’ Level pass.
– Considers B.Sc. second class in related programs.
BENIN, UYO– Does not accept an ‘A’ Level pass in Mathematics.
ILORIN– Accepts ‘A’ Level pass in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
JOS– Does not accept Mathematics for Physics.
– Accepts B.Sc. second class or above in related programs.
LAGOS– Considers very good passes in three JUPEB/’A ‘-level subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
– Does not accept B.Sc. degrees.
NDU– Accepts a first degree in Chemistry or any of the Biological Sciences.
– Requires ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics, Chemistry, and Biology/Zoology/Botany.
OAU– Accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours in a relevant program (Sciences).
OOU– Accepts Botany instead of Zoology.
UNN– Accepts three ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology/Botany, and Physics.
– Considers Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Health Science and Technology, or Medical Sciences.
– Accepts HND upper credit in related fields.
DELSU– Considers first degree in relevant Biological Sciences with at least second-class Upper Division.
– Accepts passes in Chemistry, Biology (Zoology or Botany), and not more than one sitting in GCE advanced level or HSC.
BAYERO– Requires three ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
– Does not accept NCE.
ABU– Accepts ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
– Considers a Unified Pharmacy Technician Certificate with a minimum of Upper credit.
PHC– Accepts three ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Mathematics.
– Considers B.Sc. not lower than Second Class Lower in related fields.
KASU– Requires passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or Zoology at Higher School Certificates or advanced level.
– Accepts an acceptable First Degree in relevant disciplines.
