Imo Governorship Dispute: WAEC Validates Uzodinma’s Results and Certificate
Certified true copies (CTCs) of the statement of result and certificate belonging to Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, were presented by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Thursday in front of the governorship election petition tribunal that was sitting in Abuja.
In response to a subpoena that was issued to the council by the tribunal, the council took steps in order to produce and tender the papers with the intention of representing Governor Uzodimma.
In front of the tribunal, the documents were presented by Mr. Omifenwa Tajudeen Tunbosu, who is the Head of Administration at the WAEC Headquarters.
Tunbosu was responsible for producing two documents, the first of which was a certificate of completion (CTC) of Uzodinma Goodhope Odidika’s West African Examinations Council General Certificate of Education, which was issued in June 1982 and had the certificate number SG 904497.
Uzodinma Goodhope Odidika’s confirmation of the statement of result dated December 18, 2014 was the second piece of evidence. This confirmation was delivered on January 7, 2015, and it was initially sent by WAEC to the office of the Senate President.
Additionally, Tunbosu testified in front of the tribunal that Governor Hope Uzodimma is the owner of the WAEC certificate, and he acknowledged that the certificate is legitimate and genuine.
Following that, the documents were presented before the tribunal that was led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, and they were acknowledged as admissible in evidence.
The victory that Uzodimma achieved in the election is being contested by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Samuel Anyanwu, who was the PDP’s candidate in the most recent governorship election in Imo State.
The problem of non-qualification is one of the reasons that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Anyanwu are contesting the election.
Uzodimma is accused of forging his WAEC certificate, among other things, according to their allegations.
