Cut-Off Mark for IJMB Program

The cut-off mark for the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) program differs depending on the university and the chosen course.

The program serves as an alternative route for students who either did not meet the required cut-off mark for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination or missed the JAMB registration deadline.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the IJMB program, applicants must possess a minimum of five credits in WAEC or NECO, which must include English and Mathematics. ‘Additionally, eligibility is extended to students who attempted the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but failed to attain the required cut-off mark. Furthermore, candidates must have obtained five “O” level credits in subjects relevant to their intended course of study.

Program Requirements in Different Universities

Each university has specific conditions for admitting students into the IJMB program. At Ritman University, 60% of admissions are allocated to Science students, while 40% is reserved for those in the Arts and Social Sciences.

Similarly, the University of Jos (Unijos) mandates five “O” level credits in relevant subjects for students enrolling in Science, Social Sciences, or Arts courses. Other Nigerian universities set varying point requirements depending on the specific course of study.

Advantages of the IJMB Program

Students enrolled in the IJMB program have the opportunity to gain direct admission into the second year of their chosen university course. The program also enhances students’ chances of securing admission to their preferred institution, making it a viable alternative to conventional entry methods.

By offering an alternative pathway to higher education, the IJMB program provides students with increased academic opportunities, allowing them to pursue their desired courses despite previous setbacks in JAMB examinations.
