Adamawa Gov’t and Global Partnership for Education Allocate N296m for Eight New Public Schools
The World Bank-backed Global Partnership for Education (GPE) program and the Adamawa Government have pooled N296 million to build eight public schools in Adamawa. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the initiative allocated N37 million to each of the eight selected public schools.
Deputy Governor of Adamawa, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, stressed the importance of education as a priority at Friday’s grant distribution ceremony in Yola. She spoke about how improving the educational setting for students might be achieved by building and renovating schools.
School-Based Management Committees (SBMC) in local government districts are responsible for implementing projects, and Farauta asked them to use the funds properly and openly.
The state’s school infrastructure will be rebuilt with the help of this award, according to Malam Umar Garba, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development.
The selection of recipient schools was done in an unbiased and politically-free manner, as Garba made clear. Eight new schools and fifteen renovated ones are in the works.
He stated that each community’s ability to meet the World Bank’s standards and criteria would determine the next step and determine the project’s success.
According to Dr. Olatunji David, the National Initiative Coordinator, the initiative is in line with the goal of the Federal Ministry of Education to create a plan for the educational system in Nigeria.
David mentioned that the GPE is helping out three states—Oyo, Adamawa, and Katsina—to boost educational opportunities and student achievement in the presence of State Project Coordinator Mr. Michael Medugu.
David brought attention to the anticipated improvement of educational facilities, particularly in neglected or inaccessible regions, via the addition of necessary facilities or renovations.
According to him, the goal of these initiatives is to improve learning environments, increase enrollment, and address the issue of children who do not attend school.
On behalf of the participating schools, Malam Galadima Isa, Chairman of the SBMC, made a commitment to ensure the project’s transparent and high-quality execution.
