Abia State Police Arrest Cult Suspect in University Student’s Murder Case
The command of the Abia State Police recently took into custody a young person who is believed to be the primary suspect in the murder of a student who was in their final year at Abia State University, Uturu, in March.
It has been determined by the authorities that the individual in question is Emmanuel Victor. Victor is accused of being a member of a cult organization that is responsible for the killing of Emmanuel Uche, who was a student in his last year at the university studying history and international relations.
The arrest was confirmed in a press release that was made by Mureen Chinaka, who is the police public relations officer employed by the command. In the statement, which was obtained by Leadership Sunday, it was claimed that the suspect was taken into custody by the police on April 18, 2024, at around eleven o’clock in the morning in Isuikwuato.
In addition, Chinaka said that the suspect was caught on film perpetrating the murder and that he has subsequently admitted to being responsible for the crime itself. However, he will remain under legal custody and face charges in court.
Other developments include the scheduled resume of public and private schools throughout the state of Abia on Monday.
Only schools already evacuated by the government due to non-compliance with requirements will not reopen. Ikechukwu Oriuwa, who serves as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, made this command in a statement that was sent to the media in Umuahia, which is the capital of the state.
The statement advised parents and guardians to return their children and wards to school as soon as possible because classroom instruction and learning will begin immediately.
