2025 UTME: JAMB Postpones Registration, Announces New Date.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially postponed the registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Initially planned to commence on Friday, January 31, the registration exercise will now begin on Monday, February 3.
Fabian Benjamin, the board’s public communication advisor, disclosed this development in a statement released to journalists on Friday, January 31.
Benjamin explained that JAMB needed to make crucial modifications to its registration system, which led to the decision to reschedule. These changes were necessitated by the suspension of certain law programmes in a selection of universities. The Council of Legal Education had officially submitted the list of affected universities to JAMB.
Additionally, he revealed that the examination body had identified some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres that used fraudulent means to gain accreditation. Following further inspection, JAMB decided to disapprove these centres to maintain the integrity of the registration process.
The examination body expressed regret for the disruption and acknowledged any inconvenience caused to prospective candidates and other stakeholders. Benjamin stated that the additional time would be used to finalize necessary adjustments, ensuring a seamless registration process.
JAMB also informed candidates that they should refrain from selecting the universities whose law programmes had been suspended. The board reiterated that admissions into law programmes at these institutions would not be conducted for the 2025/2026 academic session due to the directive from the Council of Legal Education.
