17-Year-Old Nigerian Student Secures Scholarships Worth Over $3.5 Million to Harvard and 13 Other Prestigious Universities
Oluwafemi Ositade, a 17-year-old Nigerian student, has received full scholarships to attend Harvard University and thirteen other institutions in the United States of America, Canada, and Qatar collectively.
The total number of scholarships that he was awarded was fourteen, nine of which covered all of his expenditures, including tuition, housing, stipends, and any other student-related costs.
There are many Ivy League schools that have contributed scholarships with a combined value of more than $3.5 million.
When it came to the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Ositade, who had graduated from Ambassadors College in Ota, which is located in the state of Ogun, performed very well, earning eight A’s and one B2 grade.
Aside from that, he achieved a score of 358 on the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 2023, which placed him in second place overall.
On the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Ositade achieved a perfect score in mathematics (800/800) and in reading and writing (760/800), which is very close to a perfect score. He graduated from college with a remarkable cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.04 out of a possible 4.0.
Among the educational institutions that extended scholarship opportunities to him are Harvard University, Brown University, Duke University, the University of Toronto (including the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship and three campus locations), Wesleyan University, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, the University of Miami, Howard University, Stetson University, Fisk University, and Drexel University.
Ositade intends to attend college and get a degree in computational physics, which will allow him to pursue his interests in quantum computing and mathematics.
He credits God for his accomplishments, believing that He laid the foundation for his success.
In addition, according to The Nation, Ositade won $2,500 after finishing second in the 2022 Cruxlearning Mathematics Contest Africa.
